The Swedish Folkdancers of New York.  were founded in 1906. They have the distinction of being the oldest Swedish folkdance organization in the United States. They are also believed to be the oldest ethnic folkdance group in continuous existence in America. In the 1930's the group split, forming two separate folkdance organizations, but in the 1960's, due to low membership, both organizations regrouped. Today the group is in full swing with some 30 members that enjoy learning and performing the many dances of our ethnic heritage.
